DHFL Default – Are Your Debt Fund Investments Impacted?

One of the Non-Banking Finance Companies, Dewan Housing Finance Limited (DHFL) recently defaulted on its interest payments. This has caused an uproar because many Mutual Fund houses have invested in DHFL’s bonds.

Naturally many MF investors are worried about what happens to their investments. I am enclosing three information items that might help you navigate this.

1. Fund houses that have the most close-ended schemes invested into DHFL

I have been saying this for a long time now. Avoid close-ended schemes including Fixed Maturity Plans. These are heavily pushed by banks and agents. Once you invest, you are locked in. Getting out in case of trouble is difficult, like it happened with DHFL now, Zee and ILFS earlier.

2. Fund House wise average % exposure (only among schemes that invested in DHFL)

Check if you are invested heavily into the debt funds of the fund house.

3. Schemes with exposure to DHFL:
